About The Event
The Dead Memoirs is a musical adaptation of Machado de Assis' Brazilian classic The Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cubas. The show follows the life and death of the titular Bras Cubas, who has the ineffable ability to tell his story from beyond the grave, breaking the fourth wall to interact directly with his audience. With musical influences pulled from hip-hop, jazz, world beat, and beyond, The Dead Memoirs promises to bring the dead back to life in a night of posthumous debauchery, a funeral party celebrating and denigrating the wasted life of a wealthy debutante. So, come on down to the Dormouse Theatre to sing and dance with the ghosts of 1800’s imperial Brazil in this brand-new, Hamilton inspired hip-hopera.
